On February 15, 2025, the NAACP issued the Black Consumer Advisory. The advisory was designed "to inform and caution Black consumers about the ongoing and intentional rollback of nationwide diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments". Consumer may sign the Black Consumer Pledge, and commit to join the NAACP in fighting for an economy that benefits everyone.
The NAACP's Black Consumer Pledge shares that consumers can:
1) Spend intentionally
2) Demand accountability
3) Support Black-owned businesses
4) Advocate for change
5) Stay informed
Black consumers possess purchasing power exceeding $1.7 trillion annually! Corporations must recognize the harm rolling back diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts will do in Black communities, including to entrepreneurs and professionals. The Rockdale County Branch stands with the NAACP as we "continue to advocate for policies that insure people of color, women, veterans, those with a disability, and all protected groups have equal access to opportunities across the country".
Additional information, including details on the Black Consumer Pledge and the Black Consumer Advisory are available on the NAACP's website.
